Our recent interview with Tork’s CEO revealed that the brand has as many as 3 affordable electric bikes in the pipeline
We recently talked to the CEO of Tork Motors, Kapil Shelke, and he told us more about the brand’s upcoming electric bikes. Tork is working on three new electric bikes that will be based on the Tork Kratos platform but they’ll be on the affordable side of things. Tork has three different bikes in the pipeline which will come at different prices. For perspective, the Tork Kratos R currently costs Rs 1,87,499 (ex-showroom Pune, including FAME 2 subsidy).
As for when these new bikes will be available, Kapil said they were initially planning to release a more expensive bike, but now they are focusing on the affordable ones. They're aiming to launch these new bikes in the third or fourth quarter of this financial year, which means around early 2024. Kapil also mentioned that they used to have a bike called Kratos, which was cheaper by about Rs 50,000. They plan to bring back a similar version of it.
The company had to stop selling the base Kratos in March 2023 because of the sudden change in the FAME 2 subsidy. So now to make the Kratos bike more accessible again, Tork recently launched a new ‘Urban’ variant, which costs Rs 1,67,499, Rs 20,000 less than the Kratos R.
The first of the new Tork electric bikes is expected to be priced around Rs 1.3 lakh. While it’ll be an everyday commuter, it’s unlikely that Tork will make compromises in terms of range. Instead, the brand could cut down on its acceleration and maybe some features. We expect it to pack performance similar to a 125cc motorcycle and have a range of at least 100km. Once launched, it’ll compete with the Revolt RV400, Oben Rorr, and Hop Oxo.
