Honda at 2016 Auto Expo: Mini Bike NAVi launched at Rs. 39,500; Street, Adventure, off-road variants

Update: Honda has launched a new type of motorcycle- NAVi at Auto Expo 2016, which has been priced  at Rs. 39,500. Founded in the late 1940s, Honda is presently one of the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers. From the MotoGP podium to the Indian commuter sector, Honda has achieved the feat in almost all fields it has stepped in. Honda range extends to top-end bikes like the GoldWing to the power packed CBR. The other offerings from Honda are for the streets of rural India with the likes of CB Shine SP and CD 110 Dream. The company is coming to 2016 Auto Expo with a lot of new offerings and will display its models in Hall number 6. Last year, it fulfilled the promise of launching 15 new two-wheelers and is planning to follow it up with 14 new launches this year. Here is the list of two-wheelers that will make their way to the Expo.

1. Honda GoldWing

GoldWing was first launched in India in November 2014 and this time, it will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo this time. This iconic machine from Honda is a dream of every tourer as it has a unique styling and offers comfort beyond excellence. It hearts a 1,823cc, liquid cooled engine that produces a maximum power of 116.6bhp at 5,500rpm and a peak torque of 167Nm at 4,000rpm. It comes with a 5-speed (including overdrive, plus electric reverse) gearbox and is priced at Rs. 31,30,725* (on-road, Delhi).

2. Honda CBR 500R

CBR 500R will be coming to India at the upcoming Auto Expo and may be launched in the country later this year. The motorcycle is already available in the international market. Like the other CBRs. it is a fully faired bike and features twin headlights and LED tail lamp. A 471cc, liquid cooled engine is used in the 500R that churns out 48bhp of power at 8,500rpm and a torque of 43Nm at 7,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission which results in an acceleration time of less than 7 seconds (0 to 100kmph) and a top speed of 170kmph. It is expected to cost around Rs. 4.25 to 4.75 lac if it does get launched in India.

3. Honda CBR 300R

Honda is working to launch the more powerful and better-specced version of its 300cc motorcycle, CBR300R. The motorcycle will be one of the biggest attractions of Honda’s lineup that will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo as it will soon enter the Indian market. It has borrowed some design cues from CBR 1000R like dual headlamps, fully faired body and a new exhaust system. The engine is a 286cc, single-cylinder unit that produces 30.4bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 27Nm of torque at 7,250rpm. The mill comes mated to a 6-speed transmission in the international market. When launched in India, CBR 300R will find itself competing with other fully faired motorcycles in the segment like Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha YZF-R3.

4. Honda NXR 160

This Auto Expo will also bring good news for off-road enthusiasts in the country as NXR 160 is making its way to the event. This will be the second off-road motorcycle in India after Hero Impulse which turned out to be a failure due to its underpowered engine. NXR 160 is powered by a single cylinder, air-cooled engine that puts out 14.6bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 14.41Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. If launched in India, the bike will be priced around Rs. 75,000.

5. Honda CB125F

CB125F is an upcoming commuter motorcycle from Honda and will be launched in place of the discontinued CB Stunner. The bike will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and is expected to be launched somewhere in the middle of 2016. The bike will feature a 124.7cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine that comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. If the same engine, as the one currently being used in the international market is used, the bike will be good for 10.46bhp of power at 7,750rpm and a torque of 10.2Nm at 6,250rpm. The company can also use the 125cc mill from CB Shine SP. CB125F is expected to be priced around Rs. 65,000 to 70,000.

6. Honda NAVi

Finally, Honda's NAVi Mystery has been resolved, the Japanese Automaker has launched this first of a kind cross-over of scooter and motorcycle at the starting price of Rs. 39,500. It will be available in three variants namely - Street, Adventure and Off-Road. Earlier, Honda wished the new year 2016 in style. Company’s official website read, “Happy ‘NAVi’ Year” instead of Happy New Year, hinting towards the launch of its new offering this year. Apart from NAVi, the company is also showcasing the CRF 1000L Africa Twin along CX-02 and some updates on its commuter motorcycles. 

7. Honda PCX150

Honda claims that PCX150 is amongst the most versatile, practical and sensible scooters present on the planet. This 150cc scooter is expected to launch in India this year and will be showcased at the Expo in February. After Vespa 150, this will be the second offering in the segment and will get a 153cc, liquid-cooled engine mated to a CVT gearbox. It gets Honda’s CBS tech which will enhance it’s stopping abilities.
