Recently, we wrote about two upcoming sub-500cc Harley-Davidson bikes – 338R and 500R – which it will develop in partnership with Qianjiang, owner of the Benelli and QJMotor. A few days since, more details on the two bikes have emerged thanks to a leaked type-approval document and they sure look exciting, at least on paper.
First off, the smallest Harley-Davidson will not be called the 338R but bear the name ‘X350’. The design of the X350 resembles the 338R concept sketch showcased back in 2019. Initial speculations suggested that Harley-Davidson would use a 300cc parallel-twin unit borrowed from the Benelli 302 range; but now it seems it will feature a 353cc unit as seen on the QJMotor SRK350. The X350 is likely to produce roughly 36PS, have a top speed of 140kmph (roughly) and weighs around 195kg (kerb).
Next on the list is the Harley-Davidson 500X which will share most of its hardware with the Benelli Leoncino 500. Even the design of the 500X will be more traditional in that sense and not look as flat-track inspired as the X350. Just like the Leoncino 500, the Harley-Davidson X500 will likely make 47.5PS and 46Nm and is said to weigh around 207kg (kerb). The claimed top speed is around 160kmph. We’ve seen the X500 on test recently, check out this article for a closer look.

Keeping in mind the rate at which information on these two bikes have been emerging of late, it is safe to say that we can see both of them debut soon. These two models will likely be sold primarily in Chna, South-East Asia and maybe Europe too. For its India market, Harley-Davidson is co-developing a bike with Hero MotoCorp, and the bike is said to launch in the first quarter of 2023.
