From a naked bike concept to two new scooters and even EV concepts, here’s a quick wrapup of all that Hero shocased at the 2023 EICMA
Hero MotorCorp has made quite an impression at EICMA 2023 with a flurry of announcements which include unveiling of new models and concepts. Here’s a easy-to-read wrapup of what we saw:
Hero Xoom 160
With the Xoom 160, Hero intends to enter into the 160cc maxi-scooter market and this new model will go up against scooters like Yamaha Aerox 155 and Aprilla SXR 160. It’s also Hero’s first liquid-cooled-engine-powered maxiscooter, and is also the first adventure maxi-scooter in India.
Here are the Xoom 160’s highlights:
-
156cc liquid-cooled engine, with silent starter and i3S Technology (idle start-stop feature)
-
Keyless ignition feature with a smart key that offers remote seat opening and also a find my scooter function
-
Dual chamber LED headlight and Split LED taillight

14-inch wheels featuring block-pattern MRF Zapper Kurve tyres
-
Expected Price: Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom)
-

Hero Xoom 125R
To tackle the popular sporty 125cc scooter segment that’s dominated by the TVS NTorq 125, Suzuki Avenis and the Yamaha RayZR 125, Hero MotoCorp has unveiled the Hero Xoom 125R. Here are its highlights:
-
New 125cc engine
-
First-In-Segment Sequential LED Blinkers (not a very useful feature but still interesting)
-
Fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity & turn-by-turn navigation
-
14-inch alloy wheels at both ends with MRF Zapper tyres
-
Expected Price: Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom)
-
Expected Launch Date: March 2024
The interesting thing to note is that the executive director and head of global product planning mentioned that both the scooters are near production ready, which could potentially mean that the formal launch could be in the near future. Hero hasn’t given more details about both the scooters’ specifications at the event.
Hero also unveiled a few concepts at the event, with the 2.5R Xtunt concept being the first to be unveiled. The 2.5R Xtunt is designed for stunts, including wheelies and other aggressive maneuvers according to Hero. The bike is built on a trellis frame with inverted fork and a gas-charged preload-adjustable rear monoshock along with disc brakes at both ends. The concept likely features a 250cc liquid-cooled engine that might be based on the Hero Karizma XMR engine. There’s a high chance that future models from the manufacturer could get this liquid-cooled engine.
The other concepts showcased were two electric ones that come under the VIda brand called Lynx and Acro. Lynx is an electric dirtbike and according to Hero, it is one of the lightest in the world with a weight of 82kg, featuring very sharp dirtbike design that could possibly be a result of Hero’s partnership with Zero Motorcycles. The Acro on the other hand is a dirtbike designed for kids and features a 3-point adjustable frame that ensures kids from the ages of 3-9 can easily fit in.
Lastly, we have the Vida V1 Pro. Hero had launched the Vida V1 Pro in India last year and now they have announced that the electric scooter will be launched in Europe and UK with the addition of a single seater ‘Coupe’ variant.
