Gurgaon to Get Bike Taxi Service from December 1

Gurgaon will be getting a new and affordable means of transport starting from the 1st of December, known as the bike-taxi service. This service will start from Huda City Metro station and in the initial phase, ten 100cc motorcycles would be employed for this purpose. The fare has been decided keeping in mind the growing competition and the Bike Taxi will cost around Rs. 25 for the first 3 kms and then Rs. 5 per km for the rest of the distance. The service has been started by MTaxi, a city based startup founded by Arunabh Madhur.

The bikes will be ridden by trained riders and they will carry an extra helmet for the pillion. Keeping hygiene in mind, disposable caps and wet tissues will also be available during the ride. The bikes used in the facility will have yellow number plates with commercial registration numbers written. At first, these taxis would be available as hailing service but soon the company will launch an app to book these taxis in a more convenient way.

Talking on the service, Mr. Madhur said, “Bike taxis are a successful model in countries like Indonesia and Vietnam. We have very carefully studied the feasibility before hitting the road. Further to the basic safety measures, we have carved out a special insurance package, which not only covers our riders but also our passengers while they are commuting with us.” Mr. Madhur  further revealed that soon they will be involving women riders as well for which they have already joined hands with an agency. Moreover, scooterettes will also be included in as they are more comfortable than motorcycles.
