Hamara Bajaj to fall into oblivion

Once known for its scooters Bajaj Auto revolutionized the two-wheeler market in the country, told that it will exit the segment by the end of the fiscal to focus only on motorcycles. Bajaj Auto that created the scooter market on a large scale in the country through its popular 'Hamara Bajaj' campaigns in the 1980s and 90s, today sells just one scooter i.e. the 100-cc gearless Crystal. Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj told reporters here at the launch of its 135-cc Pulsar told that they will exit the scooter market because they don't see much sense in it and if the company is intending to be a motorcycle specialist, they cannot make scooters. Rajiv Bajaj also added that the company wants to become the largest bike player in the world. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers', Bajaj just sold 154 units of Crystal in November and exported 104 units. Its cumulative domestic scooter sales during the April-November period was 3,356 units and 728 units overseas. The most popular bikes in India are Bajaj Pulsar 135 and Yamaha R15.
