In addition to the 750 range, five new models are now BS6-compliant, including the newly launched Low Rider S.
These are troubled times but fortunately, we do have a bit of good news to bring you today. Harley-Davidson’s official website has just been updated with the pricing and specifications of four new BS6-compliant models. Two in the Softail range - the Fat Boy and Low Rider - and two more in the Sportster range - the Forty-Eight and the Forty-Eight Special. In addition to these, a new model has also been launched in India for the first time - the Low Rider S. Detailed pricing is available below.
As you can see, the hike in prices is extremely minimal, especially considering the scale of things. The Softail models have gone up by Rs 6,000 each, while the Forty-Eight is Rs 3,000 dearer. The Forty-Eight Special hasn;t seen an increase at all!
There are a few things worth noting, though. The choice of colour options has reduced to just one per model on the BS6 variants, and the Fat Boy is now offered with the 1,868cc Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine as standard, with the 1,745cc Milwaukee-Eight 107 now unavailable.
This being Harley-Davidson, power figures aren’t available so we’ll have to take a look at torque output to see if the stricter emission norms have in any way harmed performance. And we’re happy to report that all four models retain their torque outputs across all engine configurations.
What’s even more impressive is that none of them have put on any weight in the quest for cleaner tailpipe emissions. If you’re eager to pick one up for yourself, don’t be deterred by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, because certain H-D dealers are already accepting phone bookings for the BS6 models, with deliveries expected to begin once the lockdown lifts.
The 750cc range comprising the Street 750 and Street Rod has already been BS6 compliant since late last year, bringing the total number of BS6-compliant models up to seven.
