Our three musketeers from the Royal Enfield lineup
Royal Enfield offers a wide range of bikes to choose from. Choosing a bike from such a big lineup can be a tedious task. Here’s our top 3 picks of the best Royal Enfield bike to help you choose:
Royal Enfield Classic 350 - Starts from Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom)
Engine: 349cc
Power: 20.4PS
Torque: 27Nm @ 4000 rpm
The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is the first bike from the Royal Enfield lineup on our list. When you think of Royal Enfield, an image of a retro-style bike will instantly pop into your head, that bike is the Classic 350. The Classic 350 is a crowd-favourite motorcycle and has retained the crown of being Royal Enfield’s bestseller. It has a timeless classic design with an easygoing character and offers quite a comfortable riding posture. It ensures you enjoy city commutes as well as long rides.
Before the ADVs were introduced, the Classic 350 was ‘the’ bike to take to the mountains. What helps the Classic make its case is its torquey engine which has been refined over the years, now powered by the J-series engine. While vibrations were a big thing earlier it has been reduced now. A major setback for the bike is its hefty kerb weight of 195kg, which can shy away few from choosing the bike. Currently, the bike is very basic in terms of electronics. However, this is going to change soon with Royal Enfield planning to launch the updated 2024 Royal Enfield Classic 350, on August 12, 2024.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 - Starts from Rs 2.85 lakh (ex-showroom)
Engine: 452cc
Power: 40.02PS @8000 rpm
Torque: 40Nm @ 5500 rpm
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is the sole ADV bike in the Royal Enfield line-up. The Himalayan 450 is an evolved version of the older Himalayan 411. This one is modern, packs power and is loaded with features to get you to any place in the world. This is the first Royal Enfield bike to get a liquid-cooled engine called the Sherpa 450; it is also seen in the recently launched Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. While this one offers a good amount of power for maintaining a good average speed on the highway, it won’t scare you in the city instead, its low-end performance will help you make your way through traffic and make quick overtakes.
While this mountain goat is intimidating in terms of looks, it has a very approachable seat height (comes with a two-step height adjustable seat) with upright and comfortable ergonomics. Its nature allows even a novice rider to feel confident to stand on the footpegs and ride the bike when they have to face a bad patch of roads or a trail. While all is good, its kerb weight of 196kg can make picking the bike up a strenuous task.
Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 - Starts from Rs 3.03 lakh (ex-showroom)
Engine: 648cc
Power: 47.4PS @7250 rpm
Torque: 52.3Nm @ 5150 rpm
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is the most affordable 650cc motorcycle making it accessible to more riders looking to upgrade to a ‘big bike’. While it is a 650cc bike its performance figures are humble. The bike has a retro-roadster design which looks simple but smart. Overall the bike gets very basic electronics like the twin-pod instrument console, we hope it gets an upgrade like the one seen on the Super Meteor 650 or the more feature-rich digital instrument console on the Himalayan 450 and the Guerrilla 450. It is a bike that you would love to do a cafe-hopping day on or ride to a beach where you would look at the waves and relax. This bike isn’t about reaching your destination fast, it is rather about enjoying every moment on it.
