The electric scooter and the 3-wheeler convertible feature different powertrains.
Hero MotorCorp has filed for a patent of a new scooter design and judging by the images, it is clear that the electric scooter is the Surge S32 convertible three-wheeler that was unveiled at Hero World 2024.
The e-scooter is a hybrid three wheeler convertible, a first of its kind developed by Surge Automobiles, a Hero owned-startup. With its large apron mounted headlight, massive seat and chunky looking pillion grab rail, the Surge S32 e-scooter’s simple design is similar to what we have seen on other family-oriented scooters.
Surge has given the S32 leading link suspension setup at the front and twin shock absorbers in the rear. The leading link suspension setup at the front will allow the scooter to withstand greater loads, something that will come handy when the e-scooter is used as a B2B 3-wheeler. Braking duties are handled by a disc at the front and drum in the rear.

Powering the S32 is a swingarm-mounted motor that produces peak power of 6kW and mated to a 3.87kWh battery pack. The scooter has a claimed top speed of 60kmph. The 3-wheeler hybrid attachments come with separate powertrains, with the PV auto rickshaw getting a 9.77kWh battery pack mated to a 8kW motor. The LD, HD and FB 3-wheeler attachments come with a larger 11.62kWh battery pack mated to a 10kW motor.
Although the Surge S32 three-wheeler hybrid looks quite promising, its design isn’t very simple so we don’t know if Hero would launch it as a standalone one or if this patent filing is just to secure the design rights.
