Here’s our detailed explainer on how the 2024 Destini 125 differs from the previous generation one

Hero Destini 125 Old vs New

The 2024 Hero Destini 125’s launch is just around the corner and Hero has now revealed most of the details about the new scooter. Now that we know what we can expect from the upcoming scooter, the question arises, how different is the new Hero Destini 125 from the previous generation one? We will be answering it in this article and listing out certain key points of difference between the new Destini 125 and the old.

Design

The main difference that stands out when comparing the previous generation Destini 125 to the 2024 model is the design. Hero has done a pretty good job making the 2024 model look quite different from the old.

The new model features an H-shaped headlight mounted DRL and apron-mounted indicators, along with a lot of other design changes. The scooter overall gets a premium touch of sorts, with the bronze colour chrome highlights on the rear view mirrors, apron and body panels. The tail section has undergone a redesign as well and now comes off as more sleek when compared to the older gen Destini 125.

The design overall is quite well executed and the scooter is able to keep the same family-oriented design language, while at the same time carving a distinct identity of its own. The old scooter has a similar family-oriented design language with the boxy styling, but the design now has become a bit dated.

Underpinnings

The 2024 Destini 125 offers a lot more than the previous generation Destini 125. The addition of a disc brake at front is the first thing that stands out. The 2024 Destini 125’s ZX and ZX+ variants offer a disc brake, whereas the VX variant comes with a drum brake.

The previous generation Destini 125 only offers drum brakes and has no disc variant. The addition of a disc brake at the front gives the 2024 Destini 125 a major advantage and will offer better braking performance than the previous generation Destini 125.

Another major change is the larger 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends that the 2024 Destini 125 offers. The previous generation Destini 125 came with 10-inch alloys at both ends. Additionally, the new Destini gets a new chassis and this has also slightly elongated the wheelbase. The old Destini had a wheelbase of 1245mm while the new one had a wheelbase of 1302mm.

Features

The 2024 Destini 125’s ZX and ZX+ variants offer a lot in terms of features. First, both the variants come with a fully-digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity and related features such as call/SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. Another interesting bit is the auto-cancel winkers which means the indicators turn off automatically after a set period of time.

The older Destini 125 doesn’t offer much in terms of features and even the Xtec variant is limited to smartphone connectivity and call/SMS alerts. So overall, the 2024 Destini 125 is a major upgrade over the previous-gen Destini in terms of features.

What Remains Unchanged?

Overall, the 2024 Destini 125 has seen a lot of changes but it is still powered by the same 124.6cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the previous generation Destini 125. The engine produces 9PS and 10.4Nm.

We expect the 2024 Hero Destini 125 to be launched in the coming days and it could come at a price that is around the Rs 85,000 to Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom) mark. The Destini 125 goes up against other family-oriented scooters in the market such as the TVS Jupiter 125, Honda Activa 125, Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid and the Suzuki Access 125.
