The HF Deluxe becomes the first motorcycle in Hero’s India portfolio to get CBS (combined braking system)

  • Hero has launched an IBS variant of the HF Deluxe at Rs 49,300 (ex-showroom Delhi).
  • Non-IBS variant will continue to be sold alongside the IBS variant.
  • Hero has branded its CBS as IBS (integrated braking system).
  • Hero’s scooter range already comes equipped with IBS.

Hero MotoCorp has launched the HF Deluxe IBS i3S at a price of Rs 49,300 (ex-showroom Delhi). With the launch, the HF Deluxe becomes the first Hero motorcycle in India to get the safety tech of IBS, which is the company’s jargon for CBS (combined braking system). In a IBS-equipped two-wheeler, actuation of the rear brake lever causes braking force to be applied on both the front and the rear brakes. Thus, IBS offers the rider greater control during emergency or panic braking.

The launch also makes the HF Deluxe compliant with the new safety regulations that mandate CBS for all two-wheelers under 125cc from 1 April, 2019. For two-wheelers above 125cc, ABS has been made compulsory under the new regulations. We expect Hero to progressively launch the rest of its sub-125cc motorcycle range with IBS. And although the non-IBS variant of the HF Deluxe is available for now, it’s likely to be sold only till stocks last.

Apart from the addition of IBS and a larger rear drum brake, the HF Deluxe retains the same set of mechanicals as before. So powering the bike is a 97.2cc single-cylinder, air-cooled sloper engine that produces 8.35PS of power and 8.05Nm of torque, mated to a 4-speed transmission. Braking duties are handled by 130mm drums at both ends (the standard HF Deluxe has 110mm drums at the rear). The bike also gets Hero’s trademark i3S start-stop technology, which shuts off the engine during prolonged idle and helps improve fuel efficiency. Other alternatives to the Hero HF Deluxe IBS i3S include the Bajaj Platina 110 CBS, the TVS Sport and the Honda CD 110 Dream.
