Hero Honda reports highest ever quarterly sales of 1.5 M

Hero Honda Motors Ltd (HHML), the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer for 10 consecutive years, today reported its highest-ever quarterly sales, riding on yet another month of five lakh-plus sales. Hero Honda notched up sales of 512,244 units in June, thereby clocking a growth of 20 per cent over the corresponding month last year when the company had sold 426,454 units. This is the first time that the company has sold five lakh-plus sales in each of the three months of a quarter, having sold 517,099 units in April and 5,00,234 units in May.
Sequentially, this is the fourth consecutive month of five lakh-plus sales for the company, having sold 515,852 units in the month of March. Hero Honda’s cumulative sales for the Q1 (April-June) of FY’12 were 15,29,577 units - the company’s highest-ever quarterly sales. This represents a 24 per cent growth over the corresponding quarter in FY’11 when the company had sold 12,34,039 units.
Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Anil Dua, Sr. Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero Honda Motors Ltd said, “It has been a record-breaking first quarter of FY’12 for us. With sales of five lakh-plus in every month of the quarter and record 1.5 million total sales in the quarter, we have once again set new benchmarks for ourselves. The first quarter has set the pace for the rest of the financial year and has put us on course to surpass our guidance of six million sales for the fiscal. Our recent four new launches are doing exceedingly well and we look forward to maintaining our growth trajectory in the coming months.”
