India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp has a lot to offer in this edition of Auto Expo. Unveiled at 2014 Auto Expo, HX250R which was jointly developed by Hero and EBR, is all set to be showcased at the event along with many other vehicles. This quarter-litre sports bike features a liquid cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder motor that generates 31bhp of power with 26Nm of peak torque. Sporting a twin headlamp section, step-up split seats, LED tail lamp, alloy wheels, clip-on handlebars and dual disc brakes, the bike is expected to cost around Rs. 1.5 lac if launched in India. Also, the company might offer Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with the bike.
The HX250R comes equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 110/80 section front and 140/70 section rear tubeless tyre. The suspension duties are carried out by telescopic forks up front and a 5-step-adjustable mono-shock at the rear end. Both the front and rear wheel get disc brakes of 300mm and 220mm respectively.
HX250R was scheduled to launch in 2015 but could not arrive at Indian shores as Hero’s technology partner, Erik Buell Racing announced bankruptcy and Hero MotoCorp had to shift its manufacturing centre back to India from the US. At the time when EBR announced bankruptcy, a source had said, “The EBR-led 250cc motorcycle was absolutely in the advanced stages of its development, and the company had positioned the commercial launch of this model for roughly end-Q2 or Q3 of FY 2015-16 as per the original launch plan. However, with EBR’s bankruptcy, the HX250R model will now see a delay by a quarter or so.”
