Hero MotoCorp Crosses 6 lac Plus Sales Mark in September 2015

Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (HMCL) have sold more than 6 lac units in September 2015. The two-wheeler manufacturer is the only Indian company to have achieved this feat by selling 6,06,744 vehicles last month. This is the fourth time Hero has crossed the 6 lac mark with the first time being in October 2013 (6,25,420) followed by May 2014 (6,02,481) and September 2014 (6,04,052). With the festive season around the corner, this sales record is a big plus for the company.

Earlier last month, Hero MotoCorp have started its first manufacturing plant in Colombia after their R&D partner Erik Buell Racing’s (EBK) bankruptcy. They are also planning to set up manufacturing units at Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. Last week, on the launch of Maestro Edge and Duet, Hero MotoCorp announced that their new R&D facility at Kukas, Jaipur will be functioning soon. Also, they are setting up another manufacturing unit at Halol, Gujarat to expand their foothold in the country. These new facilities are part of the expansion strategy of the company to set up manufacturing units in more than 20 continents by 2020.

Hero is entering the festive season with two new offerings - Maestro Edge and Duet, the first of its products to get in-house developed engines. Both the scooters house an 110cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of 8.31 PS at 8,000 rpm with a peak torque of 8.30 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Both these scooters come equipped with features like key with e-code, mobile charging port, remote seat opening, remote fuel lid opening, pass switch, twin parking lamps, side stand indicator, front luggage box, boot light and throttle position sensor (TPS). The Maestro Edge is priced at Rs. 49,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the LX variant and Rs. 50,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the VX version.
