Soon after a successful festive season for Hero MotoCorp in which it crossed the 1 million sales mark, the company has recorded a decline in sales for December 2015. It sold 4,99,665 units last month as compared to 5,26,097 units sold in December 2014. The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer delivered more than 5.5 lac units in November and more than 6 lac units in September 2015.
To meet the rising demand of two-wheelers in India, Hero MotoCorp has developed a new R&D facility in Jaipur that will be inaugurated on January 14, 2016. Also, with the launch of latest scooters like Maestro Edge and Duet, Hero is looking forward to increase its market share in the scooter segment, giving a tough competition to Honda. Both the above-mentioned scooters come equipped with company’s first in-house developed 110.9cc engine. These scooters are priced at Rs. 49,500 for Maestro Edge LX, Rs. 50,700 for Maestro Edge VX, Rs. 47,000 for Duet LX and Rs. 48,500 for Duet VX (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
At the launch event of Maestro Edge and Duet, Mr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman, Managing Director and CEO, Hero MotoCorp, said, “These new products are a testimony to our ongoing efforts to create a world-class R&D ecosystem that will create products from India, for the world. These products, therefore, are not just about Hero – they also represent the New India with its engineering and innovation capabilities! As a world leading two-wheeler manufacturer, we are attuned to what customers most desire, and have thus developed products that will instantly appeal to them. Embodying Hero’s core values, the Maestro Edge and Duet also incorporate all the prerequisites of a champion product, which will enable us to continue with our success story in this highly competitive market. This is just the beginning; we are developing a vibrant range of products, including motorcycles and scooters, that will excite and engage our customers in all our markets.”
