Expected to carry a sticker price of Rs 55,000 (ex-showroom), the Hero Splendor iSmart 110 is the first indigenously developed motorcycle by the company after its split with Honda.
Hero MotoCorp has announced through an official invite the launch of the new Hero Splendor iSmart 110 on July 14th. The company had previously revealed the new motorcycle at the 2016 Auto Expo, and it has also been recently spotted at dealerships prior to its official launch. The new motorcycle is the first indigenously developed product by Hero MotoCorp since its split with Honda.
Powering the new motorcycle will be an 110cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke air-cooled engine that will be capable of producing 9.1PS of max power and 9Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 4-speed gearbox transmitting power to the rear wheel. Hero has also equipped the 110cc engine with its start-stop system (i3S technology) that switches off the engine after the gearbox is slotted into neutral and the bike idles for five seconds. The engine springs back to life once the rider depresses the clutch lever to engage a gear, and this improves the motorcycle’s fuel efficiency.
The Splendor is well known in the two-wheeler commuter segment for its fuel efficiency figures and the same can be expected from the new Splendor iSmart 110, which is claimed to return over 80kmpl. Price-wise, the Splendor iSmart 110 is likely to carry a price tag of Rs 55,000 (ex-showroom), slightly above the Splendor iSmart. In the current 110cc commuter segment of motorcycles, the Splendor iSmart 110 will compete against the likes of the Honda Livo, Yamaha Saluto RX, and the new TVS Victor.
