Here’s a quick glance at the imagery of the two ADVs

Honda has brought a few updates, mainly mechanical, to its Japanese market-specific CB400X for 2022. Its Indian equivalent, or the bike that comes the closest, remains the mental KTM 390 Adventure. So for the curious folks out who want to know how each one of these bikes look against one another, here's a detailed image comparison between the two.

In terms of the styling, both motorcycles look quite similar as they boast a tall and rugged stance, thanks to their long-travel suspension, tall windscreen upfront, upswept exhaust and rugged body panels.

The fascia of both bikes again look quite similar as they get a sharp and streamlined design. And, they both employ LED headlights and indicators. However, the CB400X misses out on knuckle guards and split-type headlamp setup with DRL's.

Similarities also continue at the rear end of both bikes as they get a lean tail section that mounts LED tail light and indicators. However, moving on to the side, you'll notice that the KTM 390 Adventure comes equipped with a split-type seat as compared to the single-piece unit on the Honda CB400X.

The Honda CB400X features a tapered handlebar, Honda Ignition Security System, 5-step adjustable brake lever and a fully digital instrument cluster that displays average fuel consumption, shift-up indicator, gear position and engine speed. The KTM 390 Adventure, on the other hand, features a traction control system, cornering ABS, quick shifter, and a colour TFT display that also gets Bluetooth connectivity.

Powering the Honda CB400X is a 399cc liquid-cooled inline twin that churns out 46PS and 38Nm. Meanwhile, the KTM 390 Adventure draws power from a 373.2cc single-cylinder engine that delivers 43.5PS and 37Nm.

The underpinnings on the Honda CB400X include dual disc brakes upfront, a 240mm disc at the rear and a new Showa SFF-BP (separate function fork big piston) at the front. The KTM 390 Adventure employs WP Apex 43mm USD fork upfront, a 320mm single disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear. Both bikes employ a rear monoshock suspension.

The wheel size is also identical on both bikes as they ride on 19-/17-inch alloy wheels. However, the CB400X gets a wider section tyre of 110mm upfront and 160mm at the rear as compared to the 100mm/130mm on the 390 Adventure.

Finally, moving on to the paint schemes, the CB400X is offered in Pearl Glare White and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic. The 390 Adventure is available in Orange and White colour options.
