  • The NX125 scooter has been patented in India
  • It is a sporty 125cc scooter currently sold in the international markets
  • Features a very aggressive and sporty looking design

Honda has patented the NX125 scooter in India. The NX125 is a sporty scooter from the Japanese manufacturer and is only sold in the international markets currently. In this article we will be going over what the Honda NX125 has to offer and also answering the question, could this sporty 125cc scooter be launched in India.

NX125 Design Patent

The Honda NX125 comes with a sharp and sporty looking design, which looks similar to the  now discontinued Honda Grazia 125. It features an aggressive-looking apron mounted headlight and turn indicator setup. It also gets a similar handlebar cowl design as the one we have seen on the Dio 125. The body panel on this looks a bit more aggressive and the tail section is slightly raised, giving the scooter a sportier look overall.

Honda NX125 Design

The international-spec NX125 is powered by a 125cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 8.7PS and 9.8Nm. The engine is linked to a CVT transmission. As for underpinnings, the NX125 is suspended on a telescopic fork and a single-sided shock absorber. It rolls on a 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy setup, with braking duties being handled by a disc at the front and a drum at the rear.

Honda NX125 Console

In terms of features, the NX125 gets a digital instrument console, USB charging port and enough boot space to hold a half-face helmet.

Its performance, on paper, seems quite average. In comparison, the Honda Dio 125 makes 8.28PS and 10.4Nm, while the TVS Ntorq 125 makes 9.51PS and 10.6Nm.

Currently, Honda has the Dio 125 as its sporty 125cc scooter offering and it makes little sense to bring another 125cc sporty scooter offering into the market. Additionally, the Dio 125 also has a major advantage over the NX125, which is in its better set of features.

The Smart variant of the Dio 125, which comes with H-Smart technology and related features such as keyless ignition, Smart Find, Smart Safe among others and leaves the NX125 far behind.

The brand could have likely patented the NX125 design in India just to protect their intellectual property, even if they have no intention of launching the said scooter. Honda has been doing this for a while now. Recently they had patented the Stylo 160 and 4 other superbikes before that. Right now, the chances of the NX125 coming to India are low.
