The SIAM (Society Of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) has released the two-wheeler sales data for the month of May. Below is the list of the top 5 best-selling Indian scooters (both 110cc and 125cc) last month along with their year-on-year (YoY) growth data:

Honda Activa continues to dominate the sales chart with massive sales, and the second best-selling TVS Jupiter isn’t even close to Activa’s sales figures. Both Suzuki scooters, the Access 125 and the Burgman Street, have shown good month-on-month growth. Moreover, they showed a significant year-on-year growth, this can be because the sales slowed down last year as Suzuki was in the middle of updating the scooters with OBD 2-compliant engines last year.

The Suzuki Burgman Street is a 125cc maxi-style scooter from the Japanese manufacturer. Its practical nature and comfortable ride quality might be one of the reasons for it to be one of the best-selling scooters in India last month. The scooter also has sufficient power for everyday commuting and comes with Suzuki's reliability.
The Burgman Street comes with an LCD instrument console. However, only the top Ride Connect Edition gets smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS and WhatsApp alerts. Additionally, it shows the last parked location, overspeeding alert, phone battery level indicator and gets a trip-sharing function. While the scooter gets an LED headlight and tail light, the indicators are bulb-type. The EX variant also has a silent starter and Suzuki Easy Start System, which saves fuel when the bike is idle for a long time.

The TVS Ntorq 125 is the fastest 125cc scooter in India from the Chennai-based manufacturer. It gets a stylish and sporty design and comes in various colour and graphic options. The drum and disc variants have halogen headlight and bulb-type tail light. However, the higher variants come with LED headlight and tail light. All variants come with bulb indicators.
The TVS Ntorq comes with an LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity via the TVS SmartXonnect app. It includes call/SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, phone battery and signal indicators, engine temperature details, a lap timer, last-parked location assistance and a voice assist feature. It also gets a kill switch and a pass switch. Whereas, the Race XT is the more feature-loaded variant that has a TFT display with two screens. The scooter even displays social media, food delivery as well as e-commerce app notifications. This is not it, for those who religiously follow cricket, the scooter even shows ‘Live Cricket Scores’ on the go.

The Jupiter range is TVS’ more practical and family-focused range to challenge the Honda Activa’s dominance as the best-selling scooter in India. While the SIAM data provides a combined sales data of 75,838 units, the Jupiter 110 is likely to have a bigger share in the sales figure as compared to the Jupiter 125.
The TVS Jupiter 110 gets an analogue instrument console as standard, whereas the ZX variant comes with a digital inset for readouts like fuel level, odometer and tripmeter. Moreover, the SmartXonnect variants have a fully digital instrument cluster, shared from the NTorq 125, with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts, phone battery and signal indicators among others. All the variants come with an LED headlamp, a pass-by switch, an engine kill switch, a parking brake, and a mobile charger. It gets a 2-litre glove box and a 21-litre underseat storage. It also has an external fuel filler.
