Backed by overwhelming customer demand, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) broken all the previous records by selling 3 lac units during the Navratri-Dussehra period. The company’s total retails stood at 3.1 lac units, which is 50,000 more than the last year.
The company sold 90,000 units on Dussehra day itself, which is the highest single day sale during the year 2015 for Honda Two Wheelers. During the season, Honda’s automatic scooters grew by 35% which clearly indicates the growing scooterization trend in the Indian industry and Honda scooters continue to be the No. 1 choice of India.
However, Honda’s motorcycles sales also showed a significant growth. The CB Shine - India’s No. 1 selling 125cc motorcycle and Dream Yuga emerged as top-sellers in semi-urban and rural markets respectively. The unprecedented success of recently launched LIVO reflects the paradigm shift in consumption pattern of the entry level segment. The refreshingly designed LIVO crossed the 5 figure sales mark within 10 days. The overwhelming response for LIVO within 4 months of launch shows the need of stylish products in the segment.
According to Mr. Yadvinder S. Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., “Our focused strategy and preparation for festive period paid off as Navratra results have been phenomenal for Honda. Honda maintained its leadership in scooters and our performance in motorcycles is most heartening. With LIVO being a spectacular success; and CB Shine and Dream Yuga continuing to be best-sellers; we have defied the negativity that was prevailing in motorcycle segment since November 2014 and expect the cheer to continue into next month too.”
To allow customers to get their dream Honda two-wheeler, HMSI has also disclosed about the finance tie-ups with Muthoot Finance, Andhra Bank and Shri Ram Finance for the ongoing festive season.
