We finally get what we have been asking for – dual channel ABS

To start the New Year with a bang, Yamaha launched the updated versions of a couple of its bikes with interesting new features. One of them is the 2023 MT 15 V2, and here’s how it is different from the 2022 model.

The most significant update and one that we have been asking for is dual-channel ABS. With its arrival, the youthful and sporty streetfighter is now safer than ever. The pre-update model came with single-channel ABS.

Also making this update count is the addition of a traction control system, which again, makes the motorcycle much more safer and should help riders push the streetfighter harder into corners with a better sense of confidence.

The engine configuration is the same – 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill belting out 18.4PS and 14.1Nm.

However, the engine is greener than before with BS6 Phase 2 compliance and OBD 2 (on-board diagnostics) system, allowing the monitoring of emission levels in real time as opposed to just laboratory conditions in Phase 1, which the previous model was compliant with.

It now gets LED turn indicators instead of the bulb indicators offered earlier.

Lastly, the addition of the new Metallic Black colour scheme gives the naked a stealthy and sportier appeal. The older model came in Cyan Storm, Ice Fluo-Vermillion and Racing Blue paint schemes which are available now as well.

Apart from this, the bike remains mechanically unchanged and flaunts a price tag of Rs 1,68,400 (ex-showroom Delhi), Rs 4,000 more expensive than the previous model.
