India Bike Week 2016 had a busy second day today as the largest event for riders and biking enthusiasts concluded. While the parties before riders said their goodbyes would continue into the night, the euphoric feeling of being part of such a large gathering with a ton of activity around every corner refused to leave.
After a day one filled with welcome ride-ins, launches, showcases by various bike makers and exciting events and performances, the only way to take this festival to the next level on the second day was to go crazy! And, so they did. Day Two was abuzz with competitions including the Finals of the National Stunt Championship, the Dirty20 Enduro Challenge, Mod Bike, Bike Build Off and others.
The day began with the IBW Film Festival at 11 am, and was followed by Big Trip talks by speakers including Aspi Bhathena, Gaurav Jani, Arunabh Majumdar, Nitin Dossa, Pankaj Trivedi, among others. There was also a display of Vintage Icons, following which the Mod Bike Parade kicked off The Great Bike Migration ride around the venue. DJs BlackJack and Savyo.
The Lady Riders of India too rode out during The Great Migration, followed by the various chapters of HOGs, Triumph owners, DSK-Benelli and others. Meanwhile, stunter Kuku Das as well as 12-time FIM World Trials Championship winner Dougie Lampkin showcased their skills at the Stunt Arena, and Main Stage respectively, while Dyno Wars and Club Wars events kept riders entertained.
At the DSK-Benelli stage, Joanne Fernandes and Elvis kicked the evening’s party with their groovy tunes, who were succeeded by Sidd Couto and Karl Hungus. At the Main Stage, DJ Paper Queen was the first performer at the Main Stage and set the mood for the evening. The announcements of the Bike Build Off, Mod Bike, and National Stunt Championship winners as well as performances by Su Real, and Midival Punditz would bring a night to the close. Riders will begin their journeys back to their respective homes on Sunday morning, or take the party with them to their next destination.
It would take a while for the hangover from such a power-packed evening to subside and we can only hope that the next edition of IBW arrives before that happens!
