Indian Bikes Sales Figures August 2010

During the last few months, the sales figures of Indian bikes have shown some new results. On one hand some of the bikes saw an increase in their sales while the others experienced a little lower sales. Take for example Hero Honda whose total sales grew only by 2.28% in August 2010 in comparison of August 2009. The total sales of the company stood at 4,24,617 units in August 2010 compared to 4,15,137 units in August 2009. The 100cc Pleasure of Hero Honda contributed more than 27,000 units. It is the fourth consecutive month where Hero Honda has recorded more than four lakhs dispatch. The company is also planning to set its 4th manufacturing plant.
The total sales of Bajaj Auto grew by 54.58% in August 2010 in comparison of August 2009. Total sales for August 2010 stood at 3,29,364 units in comparison of 2,13,072 units in the August 2009. The sales of Bajaj Motorcycles included 2,89,176 units in August 2010 up 56.50% in comparison of 1,82,441 units in August 2009. The domestic sales of the company saw a growth of 67.35%. The company attributes this growth to its products Bajaj pulsar and Bajaj Discover. The sales of Bajaj Pulsar were around 83,000 units while that of Bajaj Discover were 1.27 lakhs units. At present is working out for a Tri-alliance with KTM and Kawasaki for sharing technology and production platform
Similarly the total sales of TVS Motors grew by 33.51% in August 2010 compare to August 2009. The total sales for August 2010 stood at 1,70,735 units compared to 1,27,875 units in the August 2009. The sales of TVS motorcycles stood at 66,574 units in August 2010 up 30.21% compared to 51,127 units in August 2009. Even the recent launches of the company, Jive and Wego have received a good response. The total sales of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Private Limited (HMSI) grew by 37.63% in August 2010 compare to August 2009. The total sales for August 2010 stood at 1,32,330 units compared to 96,149 units in the August 2009. The sales of Honda motorcycles stood at 56,659 units in August 2010 up 52.69% compared to 37,108 units in August 2009. Scooters sales stood at 75,671 units in August 2010 up 28.17% compared to 28,582 units in August 2009.
The total sales of Yamaha, the Japanese motorized vehicle-producing company grew by 29.76% in August 2010 compared to August 2009. The total sales for August 2010 stood at 30,450 units compared to 23,466 units. Another company, Suzuki Motorcycle India sales grew by 50.78% in August 2010 compared to August 2009. The company has sold 19,314 units in August 2010 compared to 12,809 units in August 2009. Suzuki Motorcycle India attributes its growth to its motorcycle GS150R and scooter Access125. Mahindra Two Wheelers sales grew by 278.65% in August 2010. In August 2010, the company had sold 15,165 units of scooters compared to 4,005 units in August 2009. The company has got a great response from the customers and few months ago, it has crossed the landmark of 1,00,000 units. Mahindra Two Wheelers has even signed superstar Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador of their new set of two-wheelers, which will soon be launched in the market.
