Indian Chief Dark Horse revealed in US, to be priced at Rs. 22 lakh in India

Legendary motorcycle manufacturrer 'Indian' has announced the newest and edgiest member of the Indian Chief line-up - the Dark Horse.The new bike was showcased at the Dark Horse Challenge event in Chicago, United States. Deliveries of the bike will start by the end of this month and its price starts at just $16,999 (approx Rs. 10.56 lacs). The Indian website of the company says that the bike will be launched in India as well and it will get a price tag of Rs. 22 lacs, which is around 3.5 lacs lesser than the base model of the Indian Chief range.

The Indian Chief Dark Horse is a cruiser built upon the successful and award-winning Indian Chief platform. Unlike other bikes in the Indian Motorcycle line-up, it is understated with only a flash of chrome and adds a healthy dose of matte black paint to create one of the most confident silhouettes in the market. Elimination of chrome from the motorcycle and addition of cast wheels provide it an aggressive pose, and also make it the lightest in the series. The Dark Horse is the also quickest model in the Chief family.

Blacked-out from end to end, the Dark Horse does not lack features. Powered by the highly rated Thunder Stroke 111 engine and wrapped in the same chassis and suspension of the Indian Chief Classic, the Dark Horse also maintains ABS, a remote key fob for keyless ignition, and cruise control. However, the new motorcycle weighs 341 kg, approx 13 kg lesser than the Chief Classic. The 1,811cc, air-cooled, V-twin engine of the Indian Dark Horse comes mated to a 6-speed transmission via a wet multi-plate clutch assembly. Using a closed loop fuel injection system, the motor makes torque upto 161.6Nm at just 3,000rpm.

Built to be an aggressive solo ride, the Dark Horse loses the oil cooler, analogue fuel gauge and driving lights of Chief Classic. A passenger seat plus either passenger foot-pegs or floor boards are available as part of the Genuine Indian Motorcycle Accessory line-up for those who want to ride two-up.

The Indian Chief Dark Horse is an ideal motorcycle for those seeking to customize their rides. With 40 available accessories rolling out during the spring and early summer, riders can add components to black-out their ride even more. Items such as ape hanger handlebars, accessory air cleaners, fender struts, slip-on exhaust with black heat shields and exhaust tips, and black fender trim help create the fully blacked-out look.
