The Indian Scout has seen the most drop in its price per cent wise, and and is now available at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Indian Motorcycle has announced a price cut in three of its motorcycles thanks to the GST effect. The Scout, the Dark Horse and the Chief Classic are now available at Rs 12.99 lakh, Rs 21.25 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh respectively. The three motorcycles were earlier priced at Rs 14.75 lakh, Rs 23.4 lakh and Rs 24.2 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Scout is a slightly smaller bike compared to proper full-sized cruisers, but it surely has enough mettle to enhance you aura and keep you entertained on the move. The bike is inspired by the legendary Indian Scout name of 1920 and gets a low seat height, wide handlebar, swept-back fuel tank and large fat fenders, all imparting it a bold and strong appearance. It is powered by a 1133cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine that produces 101PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 97.7Nm, mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Suspension duties on the bike are handled by telescopic forks with 120mm travel at the front and dual coiled spring shock absorbers with 76mm travel at the rear. Braking duties are done by a single 298mm disc with two-piston callipers at the rear and a single 298mm disc with one-piston calliper at the rear. The bike is shod with 130/90 R16 tyre at the front and 150/80 R16 tyre at the rear. The bike gets a 12.5-litre fuel tank and weighs 224kg.
The Indian Chief Dark Horse is a proper full-sized cruiser which carries the tag of being the lightest bike in the Chief range. The bike has appealing looks, torquey engine and fantastic road presence, which works in its favour. It is powered by the same Thunder Stroke 111 engine that powers the entire Chief range of motorcycles: a 1811cc engine that develops 74PS and a peak torque of 138.9Nm @ 2600rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Suspension duties are handled by 46mm telescopic forks with 119mm travel at the front and single coiled spring shock absorber with 94mm travel at the rear. Braking is done by dual 300mm floating discs with four piston callipers at the front and a single 300mm floating disc with two-piston calliper at the rear. The bike is shod with Dunlop Elite 3 130/90 R16 tyre at the front and Dunlop American Elite 180/65 R16 tyre at the rear. It gets a 20.8-litre fuel tank and weighs 341kg.
