"We have set a target of growing our sales by 50 percent this year and the market share to 15 percent from the present 10 per cent", said Pankaj Dubey, managing director, Polaris India to PTI during the ongoing Auto Expo. He further added that with an immense response on current dealerships, the company is expanding its roots in India and will start new stores in Kochi, Pune, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Indore and Goa.
Recently, Indian motorcycles has launched its flagship model Roadmaster at the ongoing Auto Expo at a price of Rs.38 lac along with a variant of Indian Chief Classic at Rs. 24 lac. Commenting on the domestic market, Dubey added, “This country has become very important in our global plans and we are bringing in products that are built from the heart and have authenticity, grit and strength as an additional bonus in its core. We are determined to bring the best to our customers here.” On being asked about the local assembly, he stated, "The market is too low now and does not justify local assembly. Also, we don't have local spare-parts suppliers, which in fact is the biggest hurdle. Importing all parts and assembling here, therefore, makes no sense.”
