Indian Two-Wheeler market Sales Report July 2014 vs 2013

The month of July 2014 has been proved as a golden period for the Indian two wheeler industry. All the auto majors have registered a noticeable growth in the market. The market seen an overall growth over 18 percent in the month, which is an excellent figure for a non-festive month. So, let's take a look at the Indian Two-Wheeler market sales and find out gainers and losers of the month.
Hero MotoCorp Limited (HMCL): The largest two wheeler company- HMCL registers a 9 percent growth in the overall sales of July-2014. The company sold out 5,29,862 units of two wheeler in the month compared to the 4,87,545 units sold during the July-2013. Sales of the company in the first quarter of FY'15 stood at 17,15,129 units, with a hike of 10 percent against the 15,59,282 units delivered in the Q1 of FY'14.
Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Limited (HMSI): HMSI sold 3,81,411 two wheeler in July'14, showing and overall growth of 33 percent compared to the 2,87,048 units sold in the July'13. The company delivered 1,51,105 and 1,72,119 units of motorcycles and scooters, respectively. It shows a growth of 25 percent in the motorcycle and 31 percent in the rapidly growing scooter segments against the sales figures of July'13, which were 91,280 and 1,37,863 units, respectively.
Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL): The home grown auto maker, Bajaj Auto, has registered an overall sales hike of 13 percent in the month of July-2014. The company has sold 3,19,292 vehicles during the respective month against the 2,81,327 vehicles sold in the corresponding month last year. However, the growth in the motorcycle segment stood at 9 percent with a sale of 2,67,841 units in July'14 against the 2,46,828 units of July'13.
TVS Motor Company: The Chennai based manufacturer manages to sell 1,94,128 two-wheelers in July'14, recording a hike of 32 percent in the market against the sale of 1,46,671 units in July'13. It's new scooter Jupiter and updated Wego helped the company to gain the sales by 64 percent in the segment, while the new Star City Plus contributed to a 33 percent growth in the motorcycle segment.
Yamaha Motor India: Yamaha sold 50,286 two-wheelers in the Indian market in July'14. Compared to the 37,026 units sale in the July'13, the company has registered a growth of 36 percent.
Market Share: HMCL tops the sales chart of the Indian two-wheeler market. However, increased sales number of the company for July'14 is even lesser than the TVS Motor, which managed to sale 47,457 units more in the month. HMCL sold 42,317 units more in the month compared to July'13 and the figures are almost half to that of the HMSI (94,363 units). Increments in the figures of BAL and Yamaha Mo. Ind. are almost similar with 13,486 and 13,260 units, respectively. Taking a look at the percentage of market share, gainers in July'14, compared to July'13, are HMSI, TVS Motor and Yamaha Mo. Ind., while HMCL and BAL loose the ground this month.
