Kawasaki India Launches The 2017 Z1000, Z1000 R And Z250

The updated Z1000, Z1000 R and Z250 costs Rs 14.49 lacs, Rs15.49 lacs and Rs 3.09 lacs (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Following the launch of the 2017 variants of the Z900, Z650, Ninja 650 and Ninja 300, Kawasaki has launched 3 new models - Z1000, Z1000 R and the Z250. The Z1000 is the most powerful offering in the Z series while the Z250 is the smallest and most affordable motorcycle in the lineup.
Updates to the 2017 Z1000 include a Euro IV compliant motor without any drop in power or torque. the ignition maps now have a smoother power delivery. It also gets a revised suspension setup with a more plush setup. Minor cosmetic changes to the bike include wider mirrors, adjustable clutch lever, gear position indicator with shift indicator.
The Z1000 gets a 1043cc, in-line 4 cylinder engine nestled between the twin-tube aluminium frame develops 142PS @ 11000rpm and a peak torque of 111Nm @ 7300rpm. Braking duties are taken care by dual semi-floating 310mm petal disc rotors with 4-piston caliper at the front and a single 250mm petal disc with single-piston caliper at the rear. The Z1000 gets 41mm upside down (USD) forks at the front with 120mm travel and a horizontal back-link, gas charged monoshock unit at the rear. With a seat height of 815mm, ground clearance of 125mm and a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres, the Z1000 won’t be a difficult bike to live with on a daily basis. The Z1000 is shod with 120/70 Z R17 tyre at the front and 190/50 Z R17 tyre at the rear. At Rs 14.49 lakh the 2017 version of the Z1000 is Rs 2.04 lakh more expensive than the outgoing model.
The Z1000 R gets better suspension components in the form of an Ohlins fully-adjustable rear monoshock and revised front fork settings to go with it. Braking has improved with new brake discs that feature grooves for better heat dissipation. It gets top spec Brembo M50 monobloc calipers that also feature on the Kawasaki H2R. The Z1000 R gets a different livery to differentiate it from the standard Z1000.
The Z250 is the most affordable motorcycle offered by Kawasaki and is powered by a 249cc, parallel-twin engine which produces 32PS @ 11000rpm and a peak torque of 21Nm @ 10000rpm. It gets a diamond type steel frame. The Z250 gets a 37mm telescopic fork suspension with 120mm travel at the front and bottom-link uni-trak, gas-charged monoshock unit with 130mm travel at the rear. Braking duties at the front and rear are handled by a 290mm petal disc and a 220mm petal disc with a two-piston caliper at the rear. Seat height and ground clearance is 785mm and 145mm respectively and it gets a 17 litre fuel tank. At Rs 3.09 lakh the 2017 version of the Z250 is Rs 2,000 cheaper than the outgoing motorcycle.
