The Japanese two-wheeler marque, Kawasaki is all set to launch Versys 650 in India tomorrow. The launch event will be held in Pune, Maharashtra. It will be the second offering by Kawasaki after Versys 1000, which is already on sale in the country. With the launch of this lower displacement motorcycle, the company is eying to cater the young motorcycling enthusiasts and to strengthen its foothold in the country. Earlier, BikeDekho had reported that the bike will come with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) unlike its 650cc mates - Ninja 650 and ER-6n.

Versys 650 will come equipped with a 649cc, 4-stroke, liquid cooled, DOHC engine that comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motor generates a maximum power output of 68.05bhp with a peak torque of 63.7Nm. Talking about the looks, Versys 650 borrows the visuals from its sibling, Versys 1000. The motorcycle features dual headlamps, adjustable front windscreen, LED tail lamp and a large fuel tank. For comfort and convenience, the bike will be equipped with an adjustable handlebar and wide seat for touring purposes. It gets upside down forks suspensions at the front-end and mono shock with remotely adjustable spring at the rear.

Versys 650 can give a tough competition to Benelli TNT 600 GT and is expected to be priced at around Rs. 6.3 lac (ex-showroom), which is Rs. 50,000 (approx.) more than Kawasaki Ninja 650’s price. The 600cc motorcycle from Benelli gets its power from a 4-stroke, DOHC, liquid-cooled motor. It produces a peak power of 83.9bhp at 11,500rpm with a maximum torque of 54.6Nm at 10,500rpm and comes mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission system. As far as the power is concerned, TNT 600 GT with its 83.9bhp clearly outruns Versys 650 (68.05bhp) but the latter is expected to attract buyers with its sharp body design and catchy visuals.
