Kawasaki India seems to have booked the last quarter of the year to launch its entry-level performance bike – Z250SL, inspired from the incredible Z series. Expected to hit the Indian roads with a price tag of Rs. 2.5 lac, this machine is going to be the most affordable offering by the company in India. After witnessing a great response in Indonesia from May 2014, this bike is now ready to try its luck in the Indian two-wheeler market.
What makes it different from the current Z250 is its 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which is tuned to churn out a maximum power of 27.6bhp at 9,700rpm with a peak torque of 23Nm at 8,200rpm. It is quite interesting that the single-cylinder motor will remain at par as Parallel twin motor generates a 31.6bhp of power and 21Nm of torque, which is not a big difference. However, power delivery of the former will be crispier and smoother.
Moreover, Kawasaki Z250SL is equipped with 37mm telescopic forks at the front and 5-step adjustable Uni-trak linkage at the rear. The front wheel is applied with 263mm disc brake with two-piston calipers, while the rear one gets a 193mm disc brake with single piston caliper. ABS will be offered or not will be a mystery till the official announcement, although the feature is available in Indonesia.
Making its entrance in India via CKD route, the bike is expected to be available in following shades: Black and Green.
