Could be based on the Blueshark e-scooter unveiled at EICMA 2021
With manufacturers tripping over each other to jump on the electric vehicle bandwagon, Keeway will also enter the Indian electric two-wheeler segment next year. This is in addition to Keeway’s plans of launching five new ICE-powered products by September this year.
Keeway, a European registered company owned by the two-wheeled Chinese empire known as QianJiang Motor, which may be familiar to you as the parent company of Benelli, showcased two electric scooters at EICMA. Called the E-Zi and Blueshark R1, these electric scooters are said to occupy the budget-friendly, entry-level pricing bracket. While the E-Zi is an electric moped, the Blueshark R1 is something we’d love to see in India.

The Blueshark R1 is Keeway’s flagship electric scooter which, unlike the E-Zi, is more of a full-size scooter as opposed to a tiny runabout. Powered by a 3 kW motor coupled to a 48V, 30 Ah lithium battery to give the scooter a top speed of 80 kmph, and a range of about 160 km on a single charge.
If Keeway manages to launch an electric scooter based Blueshark R1, it will be able to compete with heavyweights in the e-scooter segment including the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS iQube Electric, Bajaj Chetak and the upcoming Hero Electric Scooter.
