A new model named KTM 1290 SM-T which has been crafted on the lines of Super Duke R has been spied in Italy. We can expect that KTM will unveil 1290 SM-T at 2015 EICMA Show at Milan, in November.

Designed as a touring motorcycle, it carries the same chrome-molybdenum steel tubular space frame as the undressed siblings, but the rear section is reinforced so that payload capacity can be enhanced. It also has some camouflage on the fuel tank which looks pretty bigger than the other version. A tall windshield, slightly different headlight design, redesigned seats, wider and taller handlebars and revised footpegs offer a good ergonomic characteristic. We also expect that company would introduce an electronic suspension system.
KTM 1290 SM-T houses a 1301cc V-twin engine mated to a six-speed gearbox, which is also equipped in the Super Duke R. The motor delivers a peak power of 180bhp and 143Nm of maximum torque, although it might get detuned for the newcomer.
The Austrian monster is expected to be locking horns with other touring adventure bikes viz. Triumph Tiger Explorer, Aprilia Caponord 1200 and the BMW S1000XR.
