The new adventure bike will employ the parallel twin motor from the upcoming Duke 790

Amidst confirmation of a new ADV model by KTM boss Stefan, spy images have surfaced of a mid-sized ADV mule being put through its paces near KTM's factory in Austria. Now KTM has an extensive range which is ever increasing with the 390 Adventure inbound next year, there was another hole in the range at the 800cc segment which is where the 790 Adventure steps in. Now while KTM haven't released the name for the new bike, going by the existing nomenclature, we can safely assume it to be called the 790 Adventure.

Going by the looks, the bike seems to have a minimalist, dirt-bike approach that should appeal to customers who do not want or are intimidated by a bulky adventure tourer. And judging bu the overall stance, this looks like a large Enduro where the rider seems to sit a bit forward than he would usually on Adventure tourers. Also the foot peg position seems to be optimal for the rider to stand on as he tackles the dirt trail.

While the 800cc parallel-twin motor is borrowed from the Duke 790, the rest of the cycle parts seemed borrowed from KTM's Dirt bike and Enduro bike range. The wheels are a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked affair with on-off road tyres. It gets long travel WP suspension and Brembo radial calipers upfront. The parallel twin motor should be good for 100PS while the lack of plastics point to a lightweight bike.

The bike looks complete baring the headlamp assembly which possibly mean like it might get a complete fairing similar to the Enduro line-up, possibly with full LED headlamps. We expect the bike to be launched sometime next year and when it does, it will face competition mainly from Triumph's Tiger 800 series and the BMW F800GS. While KTM hasn't really pushed towards getting bigger bikes to India, when launched the 790 Duke and 790 Adventure would make the most favourable options to bring here.
