- The new bike will be the first twin-cylinder KTM to go on sale officially in India.
- The KTM 790 Duke is expected to enter the country via the CBU route.
- KTM has equipped the bike with loads of electronic goodies like cornering ABS, cornering traction control and multiple riding modes.
KTM is all set to launch its most powerful motorcycle, the 790 Duke, in India on September 23. The bike is likely to enter our shores via the CBU (Completely Built Up) route from Austria and could be priced at around Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 790 Duke has already arrived at select dealerships and bookings have unofficially commenced at certain dealerships across India as well. The booking amount ranges from Rs 5000 to Rs 25,000 depending on the dealership. KTM has made sure the India-bound motorcycle’s specifications are the same as the one sold abroad. It comes with a new LC8 799cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin motor that produces 104.6PS at 9,000 and 87Nm at 8,000rpm. The engine works in conjunction with a 6-speed transmission with standard bi-directional quickshifter.
As far as electronics are concerned, it gets four riding modes - Sport, Street, Rain and Track; cornering ABS, cornering traction control, wheelie and launch control. It also comes with engine braking control and a SuperMoto mode which deactivates the ABS just for the rear wheel, so that the rider can slide around the track. The new KTM bike will compete against the Suzuki GSX-S750 (Rs 7.52 lakh) and the Kawasaki Z900 (7.69 lakh, both ex-showroom India).
