So then, have its bikes lost their value-for-money proposition now?
With the commencement of the new financial year, brands have started announcing the revised prices of their products. The latest update comes from KTM, and we fear some of it may not go down well with buyers. Here is the new price for the bikes:
(All prices, ex-showroom Delhi)
While bikes like the 200 Duke, RC 200 and the 250 Adventure have received a (relatively) marginal price hike, other bikes in KTM’s portfolios have witnessed a massive surge.
Since its launch in December 2020, the price of the 125 Duke has been hiked twice. The latest price hike has made the baby Duke Rs 20,000 more expensive than the Yamaha MT-15 which packs more performance. Even the RC 125 now stands almost Rs 19,000 more expensive than the Yamaha R15 V3, in spite of the Japanese brand also bumping up the price of its own bike. Sales of the baby KTMs have been steadily slowing down, and this price hike is bound to make things worse.
Things aren’t much different for the KTM 390 range as well. In the span of just four months, the price of the 390 Duke has skyrocketed by Rs 18,000. Even the RC 390’s price has gone up over Rs 11,000 in this period.
None of the bikes have received any updates to justify a major change in price like this. That said, the RC 200 is due for an overhaul and was spotted testing in India. We reckon the launch is around the corner.
