KTM, the Austrian bike maker, which is also the no.1 premium bike manufacturer in India, has today launched the much anticipated KTM Duke 390 at a jaw-dropping price of Rs. 1.80 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The prices are shocking for many out there, but we were reporting from the day 1 that the Duke 390 will have a very competitive price and will have a sub-2 lakh price tag. Proving our claims right, Bajaj-KTM has launched the bike at a very competitive price making it a tough competitor for Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Ninja 300.
The naked bike shares its design with its younger sibling Duke 200, but its engine assembly and bigger 373cc engine sets it apart from the Duke 200. Its 373cc, single cylinder, fuel injected, liquid cooled, four stroke engine generates a maximum power output of 43.5PS with a peak torque of 35Nm. While on the designing front, both Duke 200 and 390 shares most of the parts, KTM claims that Duke 390's engine has 95 per cent new components. The massive engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and transfers the power to rear wheel through a chain drive. The naked sportsbike has a dry weight of just 145 kg, which returns a power-to-weight ratio of nearly 300PS per tonne. This massive power-to-weight ration helps it reach 100kph in 7 odd seconds, while it can attain a top speed around 170kph.
The other major change this time is that the Duke 390 has used stickier Metzeler tyres instead of Duke 200's MRF Zapper tyres. The Metzeler tyres are backed by even capable suspension unit, includes WP manufactured 43mm inverted telescopic forks up at front and a mono shock at the rear. While a 300mm front disc brake at front and 230mm disc brake at rear, makes this monster to make a halt on time. KTM Duke 390 comes with Bosch ABS system as a standard fitment . These all features, figures, facts and price prove that the KTM Duke 390 is a highly desirable bike, so go grab it. The bookings for the all new Duke 390 will start from tomorrow at all 72 KTM outlets across the nation.
