Bajaj Pro-Biking has officially confirmed that the nationwide deliveries of their recently launched 'KTM Duke 390' will embark from the end of September, this year. The bike was launched in June by Bajaj Auto at a price of Rs. 1.8 lakh (Ex-showroom, New Delhi). Booking of the bike started after the launch at the Bajaj Pro-Biking dealerships and more than 1500 bookings have been received till now. The bikes will be delivered from the same dealerships.
At the time of booking, dealers spell out a waiting period of 90 days, but it seems to be longer. The reason behind the delay in delivery is the strike at Bajaj Auto's Chakan plant, where it is being manufactured, though the strike has been called of now. KTM Duke 390 is one of the most powerful high performance bikes in India with a power output of 44bhp. It comes in the mid size naked sport bike segment with its 373cc, single cylinder liquid cooled engine.
The bike touches 0 to 100kmph mark in just 5 seconds and the maximum speed has been claimed to be 160kmph, but in actual the bike can achieve higher than this. It has been equipped with all the advanced design, performance and safety features like rigid structured frame, 4-valve technology, ABS etc. Other bike in the similar price range is Honda CBR250R, which has an average sales of around 200 units per month. It shows that the Duke 390 has already exceeded the sales of CBR250R with an average booking of more than 700 units per month.
