Soon after the Austrian manufacturer KTM announced the production start up of its 250cc twins, RC 250 and Duke 250 in India, we received a confirmed news that the bikes would be launching soon in the Indonesian market. KTM has officially sent invitations to the Indonesian media for an event, which is none other than the launch of these two 250cc orange machines.
Coming to the mechanicals, the RC 250 and Duke 250 will be powered by a 248.8cc, single cylinder motor that churns out a net power of 30.9bhp along with a maximum torque of 24Nm. The 37.2 kg lightweight engine is basically a scaled down version of the 373cc mill used in the KTM 390 twins. As for features, the bikes get slipper clutch and a two-channel ABS unit just like their elder mates. Besides this, the machines have been equipped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 tyres that offer a superior grip on all surfaces.
However, it will be interesting to see the after effect on the RC 200 and Duke 200 post launch of the 250’s as both of them do not feature either a slipper clutch or an Anti-Lock Braking System. With the launch of RC 250 and Duke 250 in Indonesia, the Indian buyers too can hope to see them here in near future. Stay tuned for more updates and to know whether KTM releases these 250cc’s in India or not.
