Updates for 2020 are restricted only to new livery. Underpinnings and mechanicals remain untouched.
- The RC 390 and RC 125 in new livery could be showcased at the India Bike Week.
- Both bikes continue to use Euro-4 powertrains.
- All-new RC 390 expected to be unveiled at next EICMA.
KTM had some high-profile unveils in the form of the 390 Adventure, 890 Duke and the new 1290 Super Duke R at EICMA this year. Amongst all the exotic motorcycles, the orange bikemaker silently introduced the MY 2020 RC 390 and RC 125.
Perhaps, KTM decided to introduce the entry-level sport bikes in a hushed manner as the updates on the motorcycles are limited to a new livery. The larger RC 390 gets a black and white livery with orange accents. Even the wheels are painted black instead of the traditional orange shade. Even the RC 125 looks understated, with the loud orange livery now replaced with a black one with orange and white accents. It continues to get orange wheels.
Apart from the new colour, both bikes retain the same mechanicals and underpinnings. The RC 390 uses the same Euro-4 spec 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor and offers the same 43.5PS and 35Nm. Unlike the RC 390, KTM is yet to update the new RC 125 on its international website. We expect the baby supersport to carry the same 124.7cc liquid-cooled motor delivering the same 15PS and 12Nm. Both motorcycles carry the same trellis frame, WP suspension and Brembo brakes as the previous models.
KTM has been working on a new and larger RC 390, which was expected at the just concluded EICMA 2019. However, that could appear at EICMA next year and be launched in India by early-2022. The 2020 RC 390 and RC 125 might be showcased at the India Bike Week this month alongside the Euro-5 spec 790 Duke, 390 Adventure and possibly, the 250 Adventure.
