After launching KTM Duke 390 recently in India, Austrian bike maker KTM with its Indian partner Bajaj is gearing up to launch two new bikes of its RC series. KTM has already announced to launch a full faired 250cc bike on the lines of its flagship sports bike RC8.
Now, the bike maker has confirmed that two of RC series bikes will be launched, along RC 250, KTM is also planning to launch the recently unveiled RC 390. Both the bikes will be unveiled in November at upcoming EICMA motor show in Milan.
The RC 390 was recently unveiled by KTM for the ADAC Junior Cup one make championship. As the name suggest, the RC 390 is based on the Duke 390 and has RC8 inspired design with a tail that resembles another KTM biggie, the Duke 1290. The RC 390 is exclusively developed for the new “ADAC Junior Cup”, which will be introduced at the 2013 MotoGP of Germany at the Sachsenring.
“Bajaj-KTM will launch two variants of the RC brand of faired racing bikes in the calendar year 2014 under the sub-500 cc category,” Amit Nandi, Head, KTM India, said on the sidelines of the Duke 390 launch in Kolkata. The RC 390 will have the same 373.2cc engine of the Duke 390 and other specifications too remain same including Trellis frame, 150 section rear tyre, WP suspension.
However, details of the RC 250 are still sketchy, though the bike will have a single-cylinder engine, which will develop a maximum power output of around 28bhp. We are expecting these bikes to hit the Indian market by mid-2014. The RC 390 is expected to have a price tag of around Rs. 2.40 lakh, while the RC 250 might have a price around Rs. 1.50 lakh,
