Earlier, we reported that the 2016 KTM RC 390 will come with numerous upgrades such as a slipper clutch, ride-by-wire technology and a new upswept exhaust. Now, we have received another piece that hints the company will be introducing cornering ABS in its models. The company’s CEO Stefan Pierer recently stated that the cornering ABS will come to their bikes down to 125cc.
“We are the first manufacturer to have ABS on all of our street models, even the 125s. Fortunately we have a strategic cooperation with Bajaj, which produces almost 4 million entry-level bikes per year, so we have an affordable ABS system. It will take time, but I’m convinced even cornering ABS will come down to the 125s someday,” Stefan Pierer, CEO, KTM stated.
KTM models have been doing great since their arrival in the Indian market. The company is the first in the country to introduce upside down forks up front and a liquid-cooled motor even in the 200cc segment. The bikes have indeed won the hearts of the youth due to complete value for money and majestic features on offer. KTM currently retails four models in the Indian market namely RC 390, RC 200, 200 Duke and 390 Duke. With the announcement of all KTM models to receive cornering ABS, we can expect the manufacturer to introduce the feature for Indian market too. However, the 200cc models are not getting even the standard ABS. For this reason, we believe that KTM will be upgrading only the 390cc bikes for the Indian market. Stay tuned for more updates!
