The 250 Adventure will debut alongside the larger 390 Adventure
- Is expected to launch in India by January next year.
- Will be powered by a BS6 version of the 250 Duke motor.
- Gets the 390 Adventure’s bodywork and colour TFT instrument console.
- However, it gets a simpler halogen headlamp, non-adjustable forks and lower spec dual-purpose tyres.
KTM will be unveiling the 250 Adventure at EICMA. It will share stage with the upcoming 390 Adventure ADV at the KTM pavilion. BikeDekho was the first to break the story about KTM having a smaller 250 Adventure in the works and also that KTM would launch both the small ADV’s in India.
The smaller 250 Adventure gets the same bodywork as the 390 Adventure and will come in two colours - white and orange. However, the 250 Adventure manages to differentiate itself from its larger ADV cousin with different graphics and a halogen headlamp unit with LED DRL’s that looks similar to the 250 Duke. KTM though has equipped the 250 Adventure with a colour TFT instrument console from the 390 Adventure.
Even the 250 Adventure’s frame, suspension and 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels are shared with the larger 390 Adventure. However, to keep costs low, the 250 Adventure gets non-adjustable forks and lower spec tyres instead of the Metzeler Tourance tyres expected on the 390 Adventure.
The 250 Adventure is expected to be powered by a Euro-5/BS6 variant of the 250 Duke’s motor. To comply with these emission norms, the bike gets a large catalytic converter and larger exhaust end can. We can expect the power output to slightly differ from the 250 Duke’s 29.91PS and 24Nm power outputs. However, KTM might equip the 250 Adventure with a larger rear sprocket for better low-speed driveability.
While the 250 Adventure will be unveiled on the world stage at EICMA today at 6 PM IST, we expect the motorcycle to be unveiled in India alongside the 390 Adventure by the end of 2019, probably at India Bike Week. Both ADV’s are expected to be launched in India by January next year. While the 390 Adventure is expected to be priced between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 3.2 lakh, we expect the 250 Adventure to be more accessible being priced around Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 2.7 lakh. More details incoming tonight.
