What is passion, if it does not encapsulate every moment and demand entirety of one’s energy? So proves a man from Punjab, Sumpreet Singh, a biker at heart and businessman by profession is currently headed towards the Daytona Bike Week, USA. Claimed to be the second largest biking rally in the world, its 75th edition will take place in Florida, USA.
Singh is also a member of H.O.G, Punjab Chapter and has participated in various rallies that included the Kashmir to Kanyakumari rally organised to support the ‘Save the Girl Child’ cause. In addition, he has also been a part of various bike races, bike festivals, concerts, and street festivals.
He became the first turbaned Sikh to participate in tee Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the world’s largest event of this kind. Singh, a businessman from Doraha in Ludhiana, followed his passion and became the first H.O.G. member of the Himalayan chapter, Chandigarh to attend the ride for cause. As reported by an online portal, Singh has this to say about the Daytona Bike Week: “Daytona is the second largest bike rally in the world after Sturgis. Here too, I will be the first turbaned Sikh to participate.”
“It gives you identity. Every bike enthusiast dreams of taking part in these two rallies. However, very few bikers from India participate as the rally is quite expensive. You have to pay US$ 1500 as one-week bike rent, besides there are other expenses," he went on to say, while adding, "It is being conducted on the beach and is also famous as ‘Daytona Beach Bike Week'. It comprises racing too, but only certfied riders can participate in that. I will be the first north Indian to participate in it.”
The Daytona Bike Week will start on March 4 and go on till March 13. Sumpreet Singh is supposed to fly to America on March 1. Let’s wish Singh all the very best, as he is so far the only Indian to participate in such a festival. We are certainly proud of him and his passion. Fly High Sumpreet!
