Metro Launches Radial Bike Tyres With Continental

Taking technological assistance from Continental, Germany, Metro has introduced high-quality radial tyres for 150cc and higher capacity bikes.

One of the renowned two-wheeler tyre manufacturers in India, Metro Tyres has launched all-new radial motorcycle tyres in the country. The new range of tyres has been designed and developed with its technology partner, Continental, of Germany, at the company's state-of-the-art R&D facility in Punjab. Highly localised at 90 per cent, these radial tyres will cater to a diverse product range of motorcycles starting from entry-level 150cc and middleweight motorcycle segment of 200-300cc to higher capacity sport bikes.

The radial motorcycle tyres come with plies which run “radially” from bead to bead and do not actually cross over each other, thereby allowing the tyre to flex on its sidewall more easily. These tyres generate lower heat while in momentum and thus are more suitable for higher speeds.Metro claims that the new radial motorcycle tyres come with extra flexible sidewalls and have a higher tread rigidity, leading to cushioned ride and an increased mileage in service. The company says that stiffer tread lowers the tyre rolling resistance and thus provides higher vehicle fuel efficiency. Also, the flatter tread radius provides a larger ground contact area, better stability and extra safety at higher speeds.

Metro Tyres will be investing Rs 300 crores in upgrading its facility, capacity expansion and the inclusion of futuristic R&D facilities in the country. The company has collaborated with Continental to ensure a complete technology transfer to India in order to produce tyres of global quality standards.

The new Metro radial motorcycle tyres will be available for sale immediately at the company’s select dealers across the country.
