MRF Tyres is all set to announce its entry into motorsport business in Europe at the Autosport International 2016. The event is scheduled to take place from tomorrow, January 14 to 17, 2016 at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham. It is Europe’s largest indoor pre-season motorsport event and will feature every level of motor racing from Formula 1 to Karting. MRF is involved in different branches of motorsport like single seaters, motocross and rallying. Other than motorsports, India’s leading tyre manufacturer also produces tyres for motorbikes, scooters, passenger cars, commercial vehicles, trucks, tractors, off-road vehicles and military aircraft.
During its first appearance at the show, MRF will showcase Formula 2000 cars from the 2015-16 MRF Challenge Racing Championship series. A lot of other racing vehicles will also be seen at the event including Skoda Fabia from the Asia-Pacific Rallying Championship (Team MRF has been winning the competition from past 4 years). Apart from these cars, the company will bring two bikes from motocross and supercross racing as well. MRF will make its debut in the UK and European markets with this event.
MRF (Madras Rubber Factory) was first established in 1946 as a toy balloon factory which later turned into a tyre manufacturer in 1952. Last month, we covered a news of MRF planning to set up a manufacturing plant in Gujarat that will be spread in a space of 400 hectares. Currently, MRF Tyres produce 1.2 lac tyres per day from its 8 plants situated in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.
