MRF Tyres to set up plant In Gujarat

As reported by TOI,  Indian tyre manufacturer MRF is planning to set up a greenfield manufacturing plant in Gujarat. The report also suggests that the company is looking for a location in the state and may put up a shop in Bharuch, which is 200 kms away from Ahmedabad. MRF tyres will take nearly 400 hectares of land from the Gujarat government for its project worth Rs 4000 cr. Also, the company have plans to go for Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation’s (GIDS) land rather than acquiring it from private property lords.

The tyre giant has not confirmed any details on the information yet, but it is expected that the plant would have a production capacity of one million tyres per a month. Till now, MRF tyres produce 1.2 lakh tyres per day from its 8 plants in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

Gujarat has been the prior choice for industry experts, whether it’s Tata, Honda two wheelers, Ford or Maruti, every automotive giant in their respective areas has invested and built up plants in Gujarat. After CEAT and Apollo, MRF will be the third company to land in Gujarat in a particular industry. Maxxis Group from Taiwan is also planning to set up a plant in the state by investing Rs. 2,500 cr.
