New Gogoro Electric Scooter Incoming On December 12

The new electric scooter is likely to be the CrossOver and it will be perfect for the Indian roads

Gogoro, the Taiwanese electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has revealed that it will introduce a new electric scooter in India on December 12. According to various reports that surfaced online, they will likely introduce the CrossOver, an adventure-style scooter. It was globally unveiled a couple of months ago.

Gogoro calls the CrossOver ‘the ultimate two-wheeler SUV’ and it gets a design language that is utilitarian and rugged with large body panels, a spacious floorboard, and a split-type seat. Like the Hero Electric Nyx, the pillion seat can be folded to create additional space for luggage by using it as a backrest for the rider. It gets a 7kW electric motor and two 1.6kWh capacity batteries with a claimed range of 100km.

Gogoro will announce more details regarding the price and availability of the CrossOver at the time of its launch and we expect its lower variant to be a business-to-business (B2B) product. Gogoro has the world’s largest battery swapping network and to assess its feasibility, they initiated a pilot program last year in the Delhi-NCR region. The Indian government drafted the Niti Aayog EV battery swap policy last year but there hasn’t been much development on it since then. So if the proposed talks of extending the FAME 2 subsidy for five more years prove to be fruitful and the battery swapping network starts operating in full swing, it will make the process of transitioning to EVs much easier.
