The first month of this new decade is going to spoil you silly with a host of two-wheeler launches!

A new decade has begun, and manufacturers are already lining up with an array of interesting launches for the first month of 2020. There’s one for almost every type of enthusiast and here’s what they’re all about:

BS6 Royal Enfield Classic 350:

The BS6-compliant version of the current-generation Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been spotted recently. As per our sources, the motorcycle is likely to be launched on January 7. It is likely to command a premium of about Rs 12,000 to Rs 14,000 over the current price of Rs 1.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Interestingly, select dealerships have already commenced unofficial bookings at a token amount of Rs 10,000.

The BS6-compliant version comes with an additional catalytic converter near the exhaust downpipe and the engine is fuel injected as well. While the power and torque figures are unknown at the moment, expect them to go down slightly in favour of emissions. Apart from these changes, the BS6 Classic 350 rolls on alloy wheels and the exhaust heat shield is longer as well. Thanks to the alloys, the motorcycle will finally be able to roll on tubeless tyres which can handle punctures much better than tubed ones.

BS6 Honda Activa 6G:

The BS6-compliant Honda Activa 6G is all set to be launched on January 15, and the brand has released a teaser as well. Apart from a fuel-injected BS6-compliant motor, we expect the upcoming scooter to come with useful features like a silent starter. The top-end model could even get start-stop and a multifunctional instrument cluster which can display the mileage, range, among others.

As far as the price is concerned, expect the BS6 Activa to cost around 10-15 per cent over the current price. For reference, the Activa 5G starts from Rs 55,934 (ex-showroom Delhi). We’ve also gotten our hands on the specifications of the BS6 Activa 6G, and as per the leaked documents, it makes slightly less power. You can read more about it here.

KTM 390 Adventure:

KTM is all set to launch the 390 Adventure by the end of this month. The India-spec motorcycle gives up on the compression and rebound-adjustable WP Apex inverted fork in favour of non-adjustable ones. However, the rear retains the same WP Apex monoshock that’s adjustable for rebound and preload. Also, the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels are shod with Metzeler Tourance tyres instead of the Continental TKC70 rubber. KTM has compensated for the lack of adjustable front fork with a proper bi-directional quickshifter as standard in India. This is available only as an accessory in markets abroad.

Powering the motorcycle is the same powertrain as the KTM 390 Duke, with the same output figures. However, the KTM 390 Adventure comes with traction control as standard, a segment-first. Expect KTM to price the bike just under Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom), judging by the price difference between the naked and the ADV in markets abroad.

BS6 TVS Apache RR 310:

The BS6-compliant version of the TVS Apache RR 310 was spotted last month at a commercial shoot. This indicates that TVS could launch the motorcycle pretty soon, presumably within this month. The BS6-compliant version comes with quite some interesting features like a full-colour TFT screen, navigational buttons on the left switchgear, and new tyres, likely from TVS itself.

Check out our in-depth analysis of the BS6 Apache RR 310 here. As far as the price is concerned, the upcoming motorcycle could be dearer than the current-gen bike by around Rs 15,000. For reference, the bike currently retails at Rs 2.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
