New Vespa LX125 just for ladies

Italy based leading two-wheeler producer, Piaggio is moving again into Indian auto market by the launch its new Piaggio Vespa LX 125  scooter by 2012. The company will re-enter the Indian market for the third time but this time looking forward to give surprising iconic value for Indian buyers. Ravi Chopra, Piaggio India Chairman and Managing Director said,“A Vespa is a Vespa, not a scooter.” The new gearless scooter will also be launched specially for ladies, who are scared to drive when they wear a Saree's. The company has recently received approval for Euro 45m loan from World Bank arm that it will use to build scooters.

The all new Piaggio Vespa will be powered by 125cc, single cylinder, 4 stroke, electronic injection engine. The powertrain of this scooter has got a good capabilities to produce maximum power output of 7.65 Kw / 8250 rpm while delivers peak torque of 9.6 Nm / 7250 rpm. According to some news sources the new scooter would be manufactured at Piaggio's Baramati Plant and is expected to be commerically available by 2012 in the Indian auto market.

The new Vespa LX125 can expect to deliver fuel efficiency of around 45kmpl in city and will also have a fuel tank capacity of this bike of 8.5L. The company's chairman Roberto Colaninno said the new Piaggio Vespa LX 125 scooter will cost about US$800 (Rs 32,000) to produce in the country. Piaggio hopes that the new gearless scooter will compete with another gearless scooters like Honda Activa, TVS Scooty Pep, Hero Honda Pleasure etc.
