Okinawa has launched an all-new electric scooter in India called the Lite. Priced at Rs 59,990 (ex-showroom), the new electric scooter sits below the Praise. Unlike the top-end Okinawa scooters, the Lite is available in two simple paint options -- white and blue -- nothing fancy.
Okinawa has positioned the new Lite as a mid-spec urban electric scooter so don’t expect the scooter to offer the same specs as the other top-end Okinawas. It is powered by a 250W waterproof BLDC motor, which helps the scooter achieve a top speed of 25kmph. The Lite e-scooter features a 1.25kWh lithium-ion battery, which has a claimed range of 50-60km. Okinawa claims the battery can be fully charged in 4-5 hours, and is a detachable unit -- a convenient feature in electric two-wheelers. The manufacturer is offering a three-year warranty on the battery and the motor.
Suspension duties are taken care of by a telescopic fork at the front and hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. In terms of braking, it’s the same disc/drum setup as the Raise. Even though it’s a mid-spec variant, Okinawa hasn’t really skimmed on features. It gets LED lighting system, all-digital instrument cluster, start/stop button and more!
In just around three years since its inception, Okinawa has already added eight electric scooters to its lineup. And if that wasn’t enough, the EV maker is also planning to introduce an electric motorcycle, which could make its debut at the upcoming Auto Expo.
